Born on the Island: The Independent Vision Behind the Roatán Fashion Show

Written in Escrito el by por Roatan Fashion Team
The founding story of the Roatán Fashion Show, created by Patricia Guilliams and Margarita Gardeazabal as an independent platform for island empowerment.
The Roatán Fashion Show was born from a serendipitous moment of connection. When founders Patricia Guilliams and Margarita Gardeazabal first met at a celebration, they arrived wearing the exact same dress. This coincidence sparked a deep friendship and a shared vision to use fashion as a tool for social impact on the island. Driven solely by a desire to empower their community, the project was launched completely independent of political or business affiliations. With Guilliams providing the initial vision and Gardeazabal stepping in to manage the organization, the duo built the event from the ground up. They were soon joined by early grassroots collaborators and industry leaders such as Cecilia Beltrán, Blanca Bendeck, and Jinniva Álvarez, who added strategic direction and credibility to the initiative.
Our Gratitude to Our Sponsors
We are incredibly thankful for the consortium of sponsors who supported our inaugural 2025 edition, including Roatán Electric Company (RECO), Anthony’s Key Resort, BAC Credomatic, Sun Corporation, and Honduras Próspera Inc.. While our generous sponsors provide vital financial backing and sometimes facilitate the beautiful physical spaces where we gather, it is important to share that the Roatán Fashion Show remains a 100% independently owned initiative. Providing financial support helps our dream flourish and gives us a stage to shine, but the event itself is an original, locally owned intellectual property created by islanders, specifically to help islanders.
